Professional Web Design

WordPress Development & More

Professional web design can mean many things. These days, it often means bespoke WordPress development, but that’s not all. So let’s clarify that first.

Here, professional web design means going beyond my Simple Site packages. Those templated, entry-level sites help budget-conscious startups cover common requirements: informational brochure sites, expandable marketing sites, and basic e‑commerce.

Whilst they are built to professional web design standards (i.e. mobile-friendly, search-friendly and secure), going further achieves more.

Excellent and professional work from beginning to end. Pete was open to ideas and able to make suggestions on how to develop my site. — Lisa P. Web Design: (5/5)

Why Professional Website Design?

Sticking to the basics isn’t the best way to compete. It just makes you easier for competitors to beat. So you need to invest in a site that performs well.

That means getting visitors and converting them to customers. So bespoke design can boost sales by appealing more to your specific target audience.

Then you may just want features or systems those packages don’t include. You may even need custom coding, aka “web development”. So professional website solutions can cover any or all of the following:

These all vary too much to list as simple packages. So they need detailed discussion before a realistic estimate can be provided. Why?

Because there may be several solutions, ranging from those using existing components and frameworks, to those that must be designed and built from scratch. Your goals and circumstances will affect which of these will be most suitable.

So whatever you need, the best way to start is to have a chat with someone who understands not just one, but all of these systems.

Similarly, just having a professional website isn’t a marketing strategy. It’s the vehicle for one. You’ll still need to drive it well.

Web designers often expect you to figure that out on your own. That often leads to expensive mistakes that I’d rather help you avoid. Years of experience and a wide range of digital marketing services let me offer that.

Can’t recommend him highly enough. He was extremely professional, laid out exactly what we needed to do and his role within that, setting expectations all round very clearly, and working within our budgetary constraints to set clear boundaries. He was extremely prompt and punctual in his responses and work. He was also extremely patient with his recommendations and explanations, which were clear and simple to follow. Excellent value for us as a charity. We’re very grateful to him — he was a real pleasure to work with. — Emma C. Bespoke Web Development: (5/5)

Pricing & Planning Professional Websites

Still, professional website design projects can get quite large and complex. I’ve been helping businesses grow online since 1997, and focusing on small businesses since 2005. So I offer a free initial consultation that you’re sure to find valuable.

After that free consultation, I often recommend a paid Discovery phase. That’s treated as a separate project, before you commit to the whole thing. It lets us assess the details of the project in depth, to work out a realistic solution, estimate and schedule.

If you then decide to go ahead, the cost of the Discovery phase then reduces the estimate for completing the project. It’s like engaging an architect before committing to building a house.

Doesn’t that sound like a sensible approach?
