Cost effective small business SEO and more
Picking a marketing strategy can be hard for small firms. Are basic UK SEO packages for small businesses enough? Are cheap SEO packages even safe? What about content marketing, like blogs and videos? Digital marketing moves fast. How can you keep up?
What if you could get flexible, affordable SEO packages for small businesses in the UK? With SEO PLUS content marketing and expert advice, in small business SEO packages from under £250/month?
Just saw that my site is now in 2nd place on the first page of Google. I'm not sure what you have done, nor do I understand it, but it worked! Many thanks! — Tim D. SEO:
Small Business SEO Packages PLUS…
These UK SEO packages start with a free SEO audit and specialist small business keyword research worth £300. If you need stats systems set up, or on-site SEO, we’ll do that too — and where possible, we’ll also look at your site’s technical performance.
Otherwise, quality backlinks are vital for SEO, yet most sites neglect link-building. So these packages default to that strategy each month unless our SEO audits suggest others are more pressing. These flexible small business SEO and digital marketing packages go beyond basic SEO services. So we can tailor them to your business, swapping link-building for on-site SEO, content marketing or video marketing as needed.
Please book a FREE SEO review before you sign up, though. SEO is not a quick fix, so I’m keen to ensure it’s right for you.

Small Business SEO Package FAQs
Why is SEO so important?
Your site can't make sales without visitors and search engines deliver free visitors seeking what you offer. Yet over 90% of searchers only view the first page of results. So page one rankings for the right terms can easily increase your site traffic by 10x -- and your sales by even more. That makes SEO very competitive, so guesswork alone rarely works.
Are these plans for Local SEO or National SEO?
Both local SEO and national SEO rely on link building, on-site factors and technical site performance, as well as content that demonstrates what Google calls "E-E-A-T" -- expertise, experience, authority and trust. So these plans can help any business. Still, if you're a local business with a specific service area, we'll also focus on boosting your location and reputation.
How long does SEO take?
SEO normally takes at least 4-6 months to start showing results. It can easily take 8-12 months or more. That largely depends on your competition -- how far behind them you are, and how actively they are competing.
Getting backlinks from other sites also relies on others' publishing schedules and even then, Google can take weeks to find them. Besides, search engines aim to promote helpful content from consistently trustworthy sources. So trying to gain that trust too fast just undermines it. That means SEO has to be an ongoing, patient strategy of investing in your site's quality.
Who are these small business SEO packages for?
Almost any small business. These cost-effective, flexible digital marketing packages evolved from SEO packages for small business in the UK. Their flexibility aims to help sole traders and other micro businesses make the most of small marketing budgets.
Which is the best small business SEO package for me?
Your website is a marketing vehicle, and SEO is the accelerator pedal. The more you press on that pedal, the faster you'll catch up with your competitors, and the more you'll then pull ahead of them. That will take time -- especially if you're competing with well-known brands. The less you invest, the longer it will take to see results -- but giving up before you get there won't help, either. So it's best to pick the most powerful small business SEO package you can afford to sustain for a year or more.
For sole traders and startups, that's likely to be my Starter package, as that's less than most commuters spend on getting to work. For micro businesses with up to ten staff, the Standard package should be very affordable. Larger firms tend to have more active competitors and so may need the Pro package to make significant progress.
Where will I see the ROI?
Every website visitor is worth at least what it would cost to reach them with paid ads. That's usually over £1 each, and often much higher. Visitors gained through SEO also tend to be far more likely to buy than those reached through paid ads. So SEO can boost profits both by reducing marketing costs and increasing sales.
Can't I just pay Google to put me first?
You're thinking of Google Ads. Paid search ads aren't SEO, though they can be improved by it. SEO is about ranking well in the "organic" (unpaid) listings. While pay-per-click ("PPC") and pay-per-view ads can be a quick fix, the numbers often don't work.
On average, just 3% of site visitors are ready to buy, under 1% actually do, and competitors' fake clicks can easily waste a quarter of your budget. So paying just £1 per click can cost over £100 per sale (and clicks for many keywords cost far more). Yet once you start paid ads, it's hard to quit without immediately reducing your site's traffic. Paid ads can work very well in some cases, but SEO is safer and more cost-effective.
(Incidentally, yes, I can run Google Ads campaigns for you on the Standard or Pro plans if you want. As you'd also need an ad budget though, I rarely recommend that.)
How much does SEO cost for small business normally?
Most UK SEO agencies agree that it's hard to do effective SEO for under £500 per month. That's affordable for many small firms, as the return on effective small business SEO usually exceeds its cost. However, sole traders and micro businesses (with under 10 staff) tend to have tighter budgets -- and small wins can matter more to them. Those small wins also gradually position you to reach the bigger ones. So small business SEO packages should be tailored to your existing turnover and positioning. Most aren't. These are.
Why list website redesign as an SEO option?
Because there are some problems simpler on-site SEO just can't fix. Sadly, pretty pictures often hide poor technical design, and your site's SEO performance depends far more on the latter. Content tweaks can't fix cheap hosting issues, shoddy code or platform limitations. Similarly, weak page, content and navigation structures may well take more than a couple of hours a month to fix.
As website redesigns involve a lot of work, it can be quicker to address them as separate projects. Still, these SEO plans can spread both the work and the cost over several months if you prefer.
Can you provide even cheaper UK SEO packages?
Whilst I'd love to make these cheap SEO packages even more affordable, investing less simply achieves less. Some cheap SEO packages are even dangerous. Still, if done properly, some SEO is better than none. So yes, I can offer a Budget SEO option if you need it.
What are the risks of (other) cheap SEO packages?
Looking for cheap SEO packages for small businesses in the UK is a minefield. Chasing professional work at amateur prices attracts cowboys. Many cheap SEO "experts" are simply moonlighters who disappear without notice. Other cheap SEO services offer outdated strategies, selling low-quality (i.e. ineffective) links in bulk, or risking lasting penalties by using Private Blog Networks (PBNs) or other tricks that break search engine guidelines. So most cheap SEO services are a false economy.
Safer Cheap Small Business SEO
The small business SEO packages I provide create quality content to earn legitimate links from genuine, established sites. They aim to be the safest, most cost-effective small business SEO packages in the UK.
Small Business SEO Packages Glossary
What is 'specialist small business keyword research'?
SEO promotes your site for specific search terms (aka "keywords"). However, guessing at those phrases just wastes time and money. People don’t always search for the phrases you’d expect. Besides, obvious phrases are often too competitive to rank for on tight budgets and get used for general research that rarely leads to sales.
That's why effective keyword research is critical to successful SEO. However, traditional keyword research assumes you have a big budget and are doing SEO to help target specific phrases with paid ads. So that relies on paid search stats, which can be rather vague. I provide more cost-effective, specialist small business keyword research, using your site stats to identify exactly which phrases will get the most traffic, most easily, even without paid ads.
What is On-Page SEO?
Many factors affect your site's search engine performance. Backlinks are "Off Page SEO", whilst "On Page SEO" involves editing your site structure and content. Similarly, "Technical SEO" changes your site, but focuses on code quality and server setup. So that often needs lower-level access than DIY website platforms provide. Broadly though, "On Site" SEO edits can include:
- Content -- "content is king". So it needs to be relevant, well-written, readable and unique
- Site structure -- sitemaps, internal links, a "robots.txt" file and canonicalisation all help search engines
- Engagement -- how long do visitors stay on your site?
- Mobile friendliness -- because most visitors now use mobile devices
- Site speed -- visitors don't like slow sites. So neither do search engines.
- Image optimisation -- bloated image files and missing "alt" tags undermine SEO
- Structured data -- adding "meta tags" and other special code to certain types of data (e.g. addresses)
- Site security -- visitors and search engines prefer sites with SSL security.
- Code quality -- inefficient coding can hurt your rankings
What's a CDN? How does it help small business SEO?
A Content Delivery Network ("CDN") sits between your visitors and your site. It's a network of computers that boost your site's speed and security whilst you're on these plans. Both of those affect small business SEO.
What is Conversion Rate Optimisation?
Whilst getting more visitors helps, your site still needs to convert them into customers. That's not just down to having a great offer -- presentation matters a lot. There are common pitfalls and best practices, but different audiences respond to different tactics. So Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is where marketing, psychology and professional web design meet.
What is Domain Authority?
Domain Authority ("DA") grades the competitive strength of a site, largely based on the quality and number of other sites that link to it. It's a non-linear scale running from 0 to 100, with higher scores being harder to improve. Most sites have a DA under 10 and getting over 30 normally takes years. Because high DA is hard to fake, Google sees links from those sites as strong endorsements. For instance, a single DA 20 link is worth more than two DA 10 links, and a DA 40 link is worth more than two DA 20s.
